ABOUT ME

azerty years ago, in July 1980, I discovered by chance a strange object: a micro-computer. It was a TANDY RadioShack TRS-80. I borrowed it to find out what it was used for. I was won over by the feeling that it was going to be a fantastic tool for my ongoing project. Indeed, 2 months later, I created my Company with a few colleagues. My passion for IT was born..

I returned the TRS-80 and bought an APPLE II. To give an idea of the rarity of the time, the accounting software (SAARI) bought with the computer had the serial number n°16 !!!

I immediately developed a word processor (nothing existed at the time) in order to be able to make letters and quotes with a quality of form that would stand up to those of the big companies we were going to have in competition. These, like the one we were leaving, were equipped with electric typewriters with text memory. Although printed on the dot matrix printers of the time, our documents looked good and made a strong impression on our customers.

The main goal of our company was the engineering and realization of industrial plants in thermal and fluid technology. I therefore developed numerous technical programmes. One of the very first was a pressure loss calculator for liquid and gaseous fluids. This was decisive. Indeed, at the time, the "slide rule" was the universal calculation tool for us design engineers. Special versions were available for a very limited number of fluids. Among them was a special gas version for the calculation of low-pressure natural gas distribution networks. The calculations were long and tedious. Only the very large industrial groups were equipped with software on large computers with perforated cards. With the help of my software I was able to counter GDF in 1981, for example. In one project they wanted to impose a low-pressure distribution in a very large factory (Fichet-Bauche, not to mention the name). Thanks to my calculator I was able to contradict the conclusions of their central calculation service, by showing them that their gas feeder which was going to supply the factory allowed much more than they claimed. Thus, the reduction of all the diameters of the gas distribution network of this factory saved it several million francs.

As soon as IBM-PC appeared, I switched to the MS-DOS world and then to WINDOWS.

With the numerous IT tools thus created, we have been able, as specialists in innovative projects ("asking for the moon"), to conquer many projects in the face of companies much larger than ours.

Fifteen years later, I joined an industrial engineering specialist. From software to assist in the piloting of radioactive waste incinerators, to programmes for the supervision of industrial automatons, there again I was able to continue to have a good time technically. All this has been fascinating.

Now retired, this passion is still with me. My hobby and passion is cycling (see my website LE-PLAISIR-A-VELO.COM), I have developed specific software tools. Examples: preparation of itineraries (working with GPX files), projection of photo memories (slide show with location on cartography and automated descriptions). As a result of my volunteer work for the blind, I have created a software program for semi-automatic creation of audio books, etc., etc.

I've been wanting to create a website for a long time to offer some of my software. The day I'm writing these lines is 2021, and I had reserved this domain name as early as… 2013! Yes, alas, the days are only 24 hours long.

It's finally started… choose, download.
